Goodbye, Lara Season 1 Blu-ray Box Set (2026 Anime)

Created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of celebrated studio Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss, The Rising of the Shield Hero) and directed by Takushi Koide with gorgeous character designs by Shiori Tani, the series presents a gorgeous modern-day retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. The narrative follows Lara (Hana Hishikawa), a mermaid princess who long ago struck a deal with the banished witch Grace (Rica Fukami) to become human for a human prince, vanishing into sea foam when she failed to find true love. Two centuries later, Lara suddenly reawakens in modern-day Japan, washed ashore on the banks of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. Given one final chance at life, love, and saving her lost kingdom, she crosses paths with a hot-headed high school boxer named Mari (Nana Kawaishi). Navigating the complexities of modern society, high school dynamics, and hidden paranormal factions, Lara embarks on a profound and unexpected journey to discover what “true love” genuinely means before her time runs out.
